Desiderata by Max Ehrmann is how we should all live in 2021!!!

Happy new year my darling Wokewifey supporters!!!!

2020 was indeed a trip for us all. We laughed, cried, held our peace, hung on to hope and we had to slam the brakes on by force. Very many different people have absolutely different ways that the 2020 year hit them. For me, it began good, became bittersweet, before delivering me to one of the best times of my life. The lockdown helped me draw closer to spirit, helped me get back to blogging (still healing from inconsistency lol) and generally helped me start a lifelong journey to becoming my best self in this dimension.

If 2020 brought you to your knees, I am deeply sorry. However, I hope you have come to terms with the fact that darkness and sadness and grief are just as important as light, happiness and joy. I hope you hang in there enough to understand that you are being prepared for something much, much bigger than your mortal eyes can see. I wish you relief, I wish you calm and I wish you rejuvenation.

Last year, I was privileged to stumble upon the poem Desiderata, written by Max Ehrmann sometime in 1927. Nothing had ever resonated so deeply and the part of it that caught me the most, I have now turned into my mantra (replaced the Yous with I's).

"I am a child of the Universe, no less than the trees and stars; I have a right to be here. And whether or not it clear to me, no doubt the Universe is unfolding just as it should."

This excerpt has changed my world view so much so I am planning to have it on the wall of my room. As a little motivational push from me to you in the new year, here's the full poem. Read it, internalize what resonates and never forget that you are the diamond and the miner. Here's to finding ourselves, polishing ourselves and shining for the rest of our lives. So be it, so it is.

Desiderata

GO PLACIDLY amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.

And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
